Please..a moment to say my peace on this sad case...

This has been a tough week for me and so many others who I know so well. Someone I went to college with and lived not far from me was murdered on Sunday. Her son was left in the car and she was taken away. She was brought a few miles away and strangled. I still can't seem to wrap around the thoughts of why someone ...now it's two people, would kill her. Why? She was such a nice person, always helpful. I remember taking a class with her in college and she was always smiling, happy, upbeat. This was just not fair what happened to her. I think of her poor son who is two and now has to grow up without his mom. As I watched the news, I saw friends on the screen crying and talking about her. It made me start thinking of the graduation before me and seeing her walk in her cap and gown. She was in front of one of my friends but I know it was her for she always had a glow. She smiled in line and this just isn't right at all...she wouldn't have died...her life shouldn't have been taken away from her. She was only 33...that is only a year older then me! I am glad that the Vermont police have worked so hard to bring in the suspects so soon. But why would this husband and wife kill this teacher... I am just so blind sided...I have been wanting to get this off my chest...my thoughts on this...today sitting with a few teacher friends of mine in a near by town, trying to all figure this out...all of us knowing her, her family, and her friends... Sharing stories and then just going silent.
All I can say to her is "I am so sorry for what happened to you. I can only imagine what was going through your mind as you were taken away from you car and your son. Dragged and then killed, dropped by a deck miles away...just left as trash near the pond. IT's NOT RIGHT!  You are already missed by so many, everyone is waiting for justice! You should still be here, teaching your class and playing with your son. This life is sometimes not fair at all. May you rest in peace Melissa Jenkins. You will always live on in your son. I am sure many will be there to help raise him and bring him up to know the wonderful mother you are and always will be!"

Thanks for listening..I have been watching this case, talking with  friends and seeing many flashbacks of this wonderful person. I just had to let out my feelings and thoughts.

Meeting Roger Rabbit in 1993

I remember back in 1988 watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit for the right time. I loved how the cartoons in the movie lived with the humans freely in Toontown near Hollywood. Roger Rabbit was so funny in the movie.
In 1993, I got to meet Roger Rabbit with my sister! I also got his autograph, it's a bummer that I don't see Roger Rabbit anymore at Disney World at Magic Kingdom. Wish they would bring him back once again! ...unless anyone has seen him lately?

I'm getting an autograph and my sister is the girl running toward him!

A silly Flashback Friday: Clowning around at The American Adventure

When I was twelve years old, my parents brought my sister and I to Walt Disney World for the first time. This was back in 1993. I was excited about everything at WDW but I got a little bored at The American Adventure. This could be because I am have America and learned  about my country at school. So going to see the show was a little boring for me and my sister. We decided to amuse ourselves outside with my mom. So, if you are young and find yourself having to wait, make your own magic with your sibling!

Yep..There is nothing like finding an empty cart at Epcot in The American Adventure and push your sister around. Then have a turn yourself...No matter where we were at WDW...my sister and I always found the fun and the joyful magic of being at Disney!:) Thanks mom for deciding that this would be a fun moment to take a few pictures!

Wordless Wednesday - Cinderella's Castle

Focused on the Magic
This week Deb from Focused on the Magic picked Disney Icon. My favorite Disney Icon will always be Cinderella's Castle. I worked in Liberty Square so I got to see the castle every day and loved watching Tinker Bell fly from the castle during Wishes every night!

I love the colors of Cinderella's Castle

Did you know: Cinderella's Castle is the center of two Disney theme parks: the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort, and Tokyo Disneyland at the Tokyo Disney Resort.
Now, I have never been to Tokyo Disneyland, but I hope to someday visit the park!:)

Magical Moment - Colorado Mountain Mom's Disney Magical Moment

This Magical Moment didn’t come from a special interaction with a specific Cast Member … it was just an all around perfect experience that resulted in a very happy Disney family memory.

My Disney obsession actually started a little over 3 years ago, when we took my daughter on her first trip to Disney World.  This was the first time we experienced Disney as parents, and that in itself was very magical indeed!

However, to make it even more memorable – it was the year of my parents 40th wedding anniversary, so we used that as an excuse to talk them into meeting us there for a family celebration trip together!  The trip also fell within a week of our 6th anniversary, so we all wore our Mickey and Minnie “Happy Anniversary” buttons throughout the trip.  If you haven’t celebrated an event like this at Disney, it’s a fantastic experience.  As soon as a Cast Member spots your badge, they are greeting you and offering well wishes.  It really contributed to it feeling like a big, week long celebration!  My parents ate up every minute of it - it was so fun to see them that happy.

As I was completely new to Walt Disney World at the time, I went with a Cast Member’s recommendation (over the WDW Dining Reservation line) that we book a dinner at Narcoossee’s for our official Anniversary dinner.  What a beautiful choice it turned out to be!

You can’t beat the classy atmosphere at the Grand Floridian where this restaurant is located, and Narcoosee’s sits just outside - right on the water.  She had also given me the tip to select a dinner time so that we could watch fireworks right there off of the restaurant deck after we ate.  Ooohhh… I liked the sound of that!

Two well spent credits off the Disney Dining Plan and one of the best Surf and Turf meals I’ve ever had later … the sun was setting, and it was time to go out on the deck and watch the show.

And then my small moment of panic set in.  Now mind you, I pretty much live and breathe for fireworks.  Would this be an inferior experience, from a distance across the water?   We were going to miss the accompanying music and narration?

Alas, Disney thinks of everything.  When you watch the Magic Kingdom’s nightly fireworks show “Wishes” from one of the adjacent resorts, they play the soundtrack for you!  When I heard Jiminy Cricket’s voice start in the outdoor speaker overhead, on the deck of Narcoossee’s … all was well.  And I must say, seeing the fireworks across the water is a must-do, at some point during your vacation!  It truly was a Magical Moment.

This three generation trip was absolutely the best vacation of our lives.  Every one of us enjoyed ourselves immensely, and we made some amazing memories to take home with us!

Flashback Friday - Quiet Spot found at Epcot

Focused on the Magic
While I was at Disney during my trip back in 2006, I wanted to find a quiet spot. You would think that at Disney World there would be no quiet spot, but I was able to find a few. This one spot I found was at Epcot, when I was traveling around the World Showcase. I was between the United Kingdom and France when I found this spot. I loved that it was near the World Showcase Lagoon. There were so beautiful views. I also made some small friends who were sun bathing in this quiet spot. Now when I visit Epcot, I always go down to this quiet spot to see the views and visit though small friends that are so lucky to get to live at Disney.

My Quiet Spot at Epcot with lovely views of the Lagoon

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is HERE!

Me at the Festival back in 2004
I have always loved gardens and flowers. To me, there is nothing more relaxing and enjoyable then walking through beautiful gardens and smelling colorful flowers. I think this is why I have always enjoyed the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.
My first year attending the Flower and Garden Festival was back when I was a cast member at Walt Disney World. I was so amazed by the  Disney character topiaries! Epcot has so many different Disney character topiaries, and this year they have over 100 throughout the park. Each one is so well designed and some even have moving parts. There are so much detail that is added to each piece when it comes to designing the characters. It takes your breath away when you see each one. I would love to know who the designers come up with them so I can have my own Disney Flower Garden at home with Disney characters.
This year the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival starts March 7th and will continue to May 20th. Flower & Garden Festival is put on by HGTV which also includes some wonderful events at Epcot. I enjoyed seeing some of the entertaining presentations that were put on at Festival Center. The Festival Center is opened daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. I loved walking through and buying items for my garden back home. Also once I loved seeing an art gallery which was in the back. There were so many wonderful painting. I was in the Festival Center for hours, for everything shown was amazing and fun!
At the Festival in 2010
Now also there is HGTV Designers Stage which is going to be every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m., from March 9 to May 20, 2012.
